'Plāys with Audirvāna' is a simple and free partnership with audio brands that tests and certifies Audirvāna's interoperability with the partner's relevant products.

This certification is mainly done for UPNP devices, but we also wanted to ensure USB devices get the best of Audirvāna; you can then get your USB DAC device certified 'Plāys with Audirvāna'.

This certification can be done by going to our community forum.

When you select a 'Plāys with Audirvāna'  device in Audirvāna, a popup will appear like this:

Note: every partner's customer can get a 3 month free trial. You can request a voucher code from your device manufacturer and use the voucher code on his dedicated page on our website.

Audirvāna is about delivering the best possible audio quality while playing music with a computer, whatever role the computer plays in the chain: being the source, one of the sources, part of the source, playing online music or local, etc.)

Today, the computer is part of the system. So, facilitating our customers' lives is in our common interest with our partners.

For a wireless connection, we chose UPnP :

  • It's a bit of a perfect standard without resolution limitations.
  • An open standard: charge-free solution used in over 9 billion audio equipment.
  • A reliable solution (granted, the implementation is appropriately done).
  • Charging manufacturers for something free is not part of our business model.

Wireless means something other than loss of quality. Audirvana did not choose the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) standard by chance.

By design, it guarantees lossless data transmission over a computer network, including WiFi. Even better, it's an open and comprehensive standard, accessible to all manufacturers for free. This common language allows devices and programs to talk to each other in the best interest of users who don't have to change their entire system because they change a component. It is a critical infrastructure in our industry and a brake on obsolescence.

Yet UPnP remains little known and often accused of not working well. But the standard has nothing to do with it. It is its integration that is to blame. It takes skills to implement it properly, and they exist: more than 7 billion devices worldwide can use it! So, customers must demand quality integration from manufacturers; otherwise, the temptation of proprietary protocols - supposedly more reliable - will flourish to the detriment of their long-term interests. Audirvana rigorously and fully integrates the UPnP standard, and we will continue to defend it.
