There are multiple reasons why your device is not detected by Audirvāna when you connect it to your computer. The guide below will help you quickly tackle this issue.

Troubleshoot USB connectivity

In this article:

For MacOS users: Please make sure you see your device in the Audio Midi Setup app.

Step 1: Make sure the device is turned on

Since Audirvāna relies on the device detected by your computer, your computer, and Audirvāna can't see your device if the unit is not powered on. Once powered on, you should be able to see it both on your computer settings and the Audirvāna output menu.

Step 2: Make sure the USB cable you use with a different device

As with every component, a USB cable can eventually stop working correctly. You can check if the cable is not faulty by connecting it to a different device (e.g., a printer, your phone, etc.). If the device you connected with this USB cable can't still be seen, you must try a different USB cable.

Step 3: Ensure you see your device in the Audio Midi Setup app.

Since Audirvāna relies on the device detected by your computer, your computer, and Audirvāna can't see your device if the unit is not powered on. Once powered on, you should be able to see it both on your computer settings and the Audirvāna output menu.

Audio Midi Setup is a macOS app that lists all the audio input and output connected to your Mac. If your USB device is not detected in this app, it is not working correctly.

You can find the Audio Midi setup in the Applications folder under the Utilities folder:

For Windows users: Ensure you see your device as an audio output in the sound settings.

By default, every audio device connected to Windows is listed under the OS's sound settings. If your device is not listed, it is not working correctly.

Regarding ASIO, since it doesn't rely on Windows sound settings, you won't see your device in it but rather in your own device's ASIO pilot GUI (if a GUI comes with it). If your device's ASIO driver doesn't see your device, you need to contact your manufacturer after trying the steps below.

Step 3: Make sure of your device's settings

Some devices must be set in USB mode to have their USB interface powered and thus detected by your computer. If your device needs to be switched to a specific mode to be detected by a computer, we recommend you check its manual.

Step 4: Connect a headphone to your device (if possible)

Devices like THX Onyx or CLARUS CODA DACs need headphones connected before they automatically power on and are detected by your computer. We recommend checking your device specification to see if these requirements exist before using your DAC.
